One of the consequences of overdoing the 'sugar thing' is that our digestive systems become compromised. It has also been used as a treatment for digestive problems. By grating it, wrapping it in cheese-cloth, and simmering it in warm water for 45 minutes you can create a poultice that can be placed over the stomach, it can promote better digestion, using it thus, can loosen constipated bowel movements.
